Medicines of the Hive: Apitherapy

Honeybees are the only insects that produce food for human consumption, but the hive offers far more than honey alone. A healthy hive is a living pharmacy, rich with powerful substances that humans have used for centuries to support vitality, immunity, and healing.

Apitherapy is the practice of working with honeybee medicines for human health. These include honey, pollen, propolis, royal jelly, beeswax, bee venom, and even the air within an active hive. Each offers unique properties, and together they reveal a deeper relationship between humans and the honeybee.

As a beekeeper of over 10 years, I’ve worked hands-on with all of these gifts from the hive. In this educational, classroom-style presentation, I guide participants through the science, history, and practical uses of apitherapy, with samples of select hive remedies included.

Invite me to your office, classroom, or community gathering—including wellness centers, herbal groups, garden clubs, libraries, universities, and professional organizations—for an engaging and informative exploration of the medicines of the hive.
