Full Spectrum CBD Face Oil

Skin Science

Skin is the largest organ of the human body. I remember the exact moment when I discovered I could squeeze oil out of the pores in my nose, so gross, but so fascinating! The second puberty hit, my face and back started breaking out in huge, painful, cyst-like pimples, and I would destroy my skin trying to pop them.

All the marketing for acne products focuses on how oil is bad and encourages “drying them out”, instead of healing the cause of the inflammation at its core. As a teenager I would use zit creams, rubbing alcohol, and even toothpaste to try to “kill” my acne. I ended up over drying my skin, causing it to break out even more. My diet was not organic or balanced, I was drinking tap water if I was drinking any water at all, and I had no concept of herbal medicine. I was a recipe for “pepperoni pizza face”, which I’m sure my classmates called me behind my back.

My skin and self-confidence were a refection of all of this. It wasn’t until I moved to Hawaii in 2011, that my skin started to improve. I changed my water, changed my diet, changed my facial care products, and my new glowing complexion reflected a new and improved self-confidence too. I learned that the Ancient Hawaiians would use a very special oil from Kukui nuts to moisturize their hair and skin. After being taught to fear oil clogging pores, it blew my mind that oil could actually be beneficial to the skin!

I started to make my own face and body organic oil blends while learning about the power of homemade herbal remedies. No more Neutrogena for me! I began using a combination of oils I learned were good for the skin, like kukui nut, jojoba, castor, argan grapeseed, sweet almond, evening primerose, and more. I would add a few drops of tea tree oil to assist with treating my acne, but the main intention was to nourish, not to dry out.

Since I started working at NuLeaf Naturals last September, I have begun to add our full spectrum, organic CBD oil to my face oil as well, and the results are amazing!! My understanding is that cannabinoids look for inflammation and pathogens in the body and work to subdue them, making them very effective against acne and other skin infections. Plus, with organic hemp seed oil as the carrier oil for the cannabinoid extract, NuLeaf Naturals produces a perfect product for using on the skin.

Our customers report amazing stories of relief from acne, psoriasis, eczema, flesh wounds, and more. I have personally also found that it helps prevent and heal scarring! Not only do I use it in my face oil blend, but if I have a bad pimple forming, I will just put one drop of oil directly on the blemish, and often it will decease the inflammation and stop the zit from existing. Or if a zit has already exploded, it helps heal the aftermath. I’m also very optimistic for the preventative properties of cannabinoids for ensuring I don’t develop skin cancer.

Most CBD skin care products are ridiculously expensive for very little quantities. One of the things I love most about NuLeaf Naturals is that you can add it to any homemade or store-bought skin care product and get waaay more bang for your buck. Because it is fully active it can be used anywhere on the body for localized pain and skin conditions, and by adding it to another product like a massage oil or lotion you can disperse it further around the desired area.

It is always recommended to still take the CBD oil internally as well, especially since many skin conditions are connected to the health of our internal organs like the liver and colon. So, the two prong approach (internal and external) is the best way to get the most benefits and clearest skin. However, using NuLeaf Naturals only topically is a great way to still get relief for anyone who can not consume any THC.

My CBD face oil formula has no exact measurements and can really be used for face and body and made in any quantity. The ingredients are bought in bigger volumes, so I usually only purchase oils every 4-6 months. I don’t buy in big bulk containers, because I don’t go through the oil that fast and most oils don’t have a super long shelf life. I prefer instead to buy most of my oils at my local Natural Grocer’s or any other health food or natural vitamin and body care store. I usually watch for sales of my favorite oils, especially if I’m starting to get low, but mainly when I need a new selection I will just pick out 3-5 oils at a time, typically dependent on my budget. Dark, glass bottles are best for any oils, but sometimes plastic is the only option locally, so use your best judgement.

Occasionally, I’ll buy my oils on Amazon, especially now since I don’t live in Hawaii anymore and can no longer source my kukui nut oil locally…but I love it so much, so I still treat myself from time to time. Homemade Full Spectrum CBD Face Oil

  • 2 ounce blue glass spray bottle (or larger glass container if making larger quantities)

  • Small funnel or a steady hand

  • 1 or more organic oils:

Jojoba, Kukui Nut, Argan, Castor, Grapeseed, Sweet Almond, Avocado, Olive, Hemp Seed, Evening Primerose, etc.

  • 1 or more organic essential oils (if desired):

Tea Tree, Lavender, Rosemary, Geranium, Rose, Ylang Ylang, Lemongrass, Chamomile, Frankincese, etc.

Honestly, my ratios and blends are almost always a little different depending on the variety and amount of oils I have to mix. There really is no wrong formula, though every skin type is different so I recommend using your intuition to decide how much of each you would like. Typically, I add about 50mg of CBD with 1ml of NuLeaf Naturals, which equals about 20 drops, but I encourage you to adjust this to your own preference as well. Since oils have different densities and can separate when emulsifiers aren’t added, I suggest shaking your bottle for at least a few seconds before each use to ensure an even blend. The final product will be a luxurious, smooth, and nourishing oil for the skin. The result…a healthy, natural glow…having everyone wonder what your secret is!

However, secrets don’t make friends, and friends don’t make secrets… so spread the CBD love, and let the world know how you keep your healthy glow!
